‘The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa as we see it today was built in the early 17th century, though there had been a place of hospitality on this site for much longer than that. – The coming of the railway in 1888 and the motor car in the early 20th century placed new demands on the hotel, so the Cavendish Pavilion was built by the riverside to provide refreshments and is now a popular place for country lovers of all ages.’ – The Devonshire Arms
The relationship between Winder Carpets and The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa has developed since we were asked to carry out a repair of a carpet. This has led to us being awarded a contract for the flooring for the refurbishment of the venue.

It is a phased project starting with the public areas leading from reception, cocktail lounge corridor and stairways. We are then moving into the 40 bedrooms and finally the Burlington dining room and conservatory.

The carpet is a custom design and weaving of Axminster carpet manufactured by Wilton Carpet company for all areas.
Installed over Cloud 9 underlay which offers excellent heat and sound insulation but are lighter than conventional rubber underlays.
High polished brass trims and accessories to maintain the high quality classical appearance that has become a permanent feature of this very popular venue.
We are also working on other projects within the The Devonshire Arms part of the Chatsworth Estate portfolio.
Paul Winder, Director of Winder Carpets said “Working at the Devonshire arms is unique because of the very specific requirements of a historical and classic building…. Our experienced team of installers have to plan every piece of work thoroughly because the requirements are exact and the finished job is expected to look amazing.”
