Here are some more photos showing the toilet areas that have been screeded.  We are now applying the “cove-forma” to the base of the perimeter wall.

This will allow us to gently curve the vinyl flooring up the wall at the edges to create a water tight perimeter, this will be finished with a capping strip.

The theory with the vinyl running up the walls 100mm would allow us to fill the room with water 100mm deep before damaging the walls.  This is ideal in environments such as toilets because they can be prone to flooding.

This curved corners does, however,  allow for a more hygienic and easier cleaning  process for the floor.

The last two photos show areas where the preparation of the sub-floor (see previous post) has been completed and now the carpet has been installed. The carpet selected by the school is a heavy contract flooring quality, it has a cut pile finish and a cushioned impervious backing.  This selection was made with the comfort of the pupils and ease of  maintenance in mind.
